Give a Heart a Home was established in 1979 by Cindy Calhoun, Freda Henrikson, and Bill Garrett. The agency is dedicated to the rescue of abandoned and unwanted animals. The purpose of the agency is to rehabilitate animals so they are adoptable. Give a Heart a Home has a no-kill policy, and we place every single animal that comes to the sanctuary in a home appropriate for the pet's needs as well as the adoptive family's needs. A cooperative effort is maintained between local school districts and Give a Heart a Home. In addition to saving the lives of thousands of suffering animals, the agency gives special needs children a chance to learn to nurture and develop skills in working with animals. The children, after experiencing the success of caring for homeless animals, are many times motivated to succeed in school as well. Give a Heart a Home offers community educational programs and services to educate about pet overpopulation and teach the skills necessary to be responsible pet owners.
Give a Heart a Home relies on the kindness of animal lovers for donations to support expenses such as caregiving, utilities, veterinary visits, food, cleaning supplies, and other necessities required when operating an animal rescue sanctuary.
We always welcome donations.
