A-D

Afghanistan: A country north and west of India which is slowly recovering from more than a quarter century of war and unrest
Angola: A country in south western Africa which is one of the world's poorest countries
Armenia:Habitat for Humanity is undergoing a transition in Armenia. New information on our programs will be available soon.
Australia: While most of Australia is modern and increasingly prosperous, an estimated 100,000 people are homeless or live in sub-standard conditions and another 200,000 are on waiting lists for publicly funded housing
Bangladesh: A giant delta region formed by teh Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers where flooding engulfed nearly two-thirds of teh country in 2004, damaging nearly a million homes and destroying almost two million acres of crops
Bolivia: A country in Latin America with a population fo 8 million people, 3.2 million of which do not have access to potable water and sewage services
Bulgaria: A country bordering the Black Sea whose people lost the ability to afford housing after the communist regime collapsed
Burundi: A small country in central Africa devastated by years of conflict and political turmoil
Cambodia: Located in the heart of south east Asia, about 34% of Cambodians live on less than US$1 a day
Cameroon: A country in west central Africa where 67% of the population are living in informal settlements
Central African Republic: Located 500 miles north of the equator, the Central African Republic is one of the ten poores countries in the world
China: A formerly communist nation that, while trying to become more modern, still has population and housing problems
Democratic Republic of Congo: Suspended for the foreseeable future
Dominican Republic: Habitat has 8 seperate regions dedicated to relieving those in shanty towns to better housing

Ecuador: Only 67.2% of families own homes
Egypt: The most hightly populated Arab country with 73 million inhabitants, has nearly 20 million living in sub-standard housing conditions with no means of improving their situation
Ethiopia: One of the ten poorest nations in the world with almost 85% of houses made of mud and stick or thatch walls, which collapse easily
El Salvador: A country recently wracked by natural disasters in which 51% of the population is in need of housing
Figi: An island off the east coast of Australia in which 28% of the national population lived below the poverty level
Ghana: A country on the Gulf of New Guinea whose popluation is growing rapidly; over the next five years, almost 1 million more houses will be needed
Great Britain: Even though Britain has had a program for social housing since 1945, there are still more than 700,000 households in which people are on a waiting list for social housing
Guam: A territory of the United States which is wracked yearly by natural disasters
Guatemala: A Latin American country in which there is a need for 1.2 million homes
Haiti: Haiti has a housing deficit of approximately one million homes; It is estimated that 700k people live in substandard conditions and that 300k people are homeless.
Term: One of the poorest and least developed countries in Latin America, with nearly two-thirds of Hondurans living in poverty
Hungary: A member state of the European Union which, in spite of many positive reforms, has overcrowded housing without proper sanitation for too many low-income families

India: While the country is making its place as an economic powerhouse in the world stage, it is still home to 22% of the world's poor
Indonesia: The world's larges archipelago with more than 234 million prople, 18% of which live below the poverty level
Japan: While being the second largest economy in the world, it still has homeless issues that need to be addressed
Jordan: A small country of about 6 million people where the majority of the populous live on less than $5,000 USD per year
Kenya: Nearly 60% of the country's 37 mission residents live on less than $2 a day
Kyrgyzstan: A former member of the Soviet Republic, 71% of the population has an income below the poverty line

Laos: One of the world's few remaining communist states, more than half the population lacks access to clean water and about one-third lack access to adequate sanitaion facilities
Lesotho: A small, isolated country in South Africa whose families are living in overcrowded, unsafe, and unhealthy conditions
Liberia: Currenty inactive
Malaysia: While the country tries to support their poor, many are too poor to afford the government support
Mexico: Workers who make less than $30USD a month support half of the nations families
Mongolia: A country where most of the population still rely on hearding, and 30% live below the poverty level
Malawi: A country of immense beauty where 90% of the population live in rural areas and 75% live on less than $2 USD a day
